One Day Gorilla Tour in Congo Kahuzi-Biega National Park

If you are interested in a one-day Congo gorilla tour, here is Kahuzi Biega National Park, a place where you can go for a Congo gorilla safari to track the Eastern lowland gorillas. Eastern lowland gorillas slightly differ from the Mountain Gorillas. The lowland gorillas have brownish hair well as the mountain gorillas are black.

This one-day Congo gorilla safaris is best when the visitor is in Bukavu town south of Lake Kivu in Congo. This is so because going for this activity requires a very early pick up and an evening drop off depending on how long your gorilla tracking activity will take. From Bukavu to the park, it takes a duration of about one hour to get to the quarters.

I discourage visitors that spend the night in Rwanda because the Rwanda boarder is opened at 8am yet the gorilla trekking activity in Congo starts at 8am. This means you will miss the activity.

Itinerary Details

Wake up early in the morning and take breakfast at the lodge/ or hotel and prepare for your transfer to the Park. Your driver guide will pick you at the hotel and embark on your journey from Bukavu to the park headquarters to track the lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National park.

On arrival to the headquarters, you will be briefed about the Congo gorilla trekking safari exercise by the park rangers or guides. The gorilla trekking activity in Congo’s Kahuzi Biega National Park lasts between 2 to 6 hours. After seeing the gorillas or meeting the gorilla family, visitors are restricted to only one hour of interacting with the gorillas.

Gorilla trekking Congo is a very interesting and exciting activity. During the trek, you encounter with large lowland gorilla families since the lowland gorillas always stay in large packs which makes the Congo safari so attractive. Kahuzi Biega National Park has over 9 gorilla families and two are open for the Congo gorilla tracking activity.

In Kahuzi Biega National Park, visitors are allocated gorilla trekking groups according to their abilities. Visitors who are physically weak are given the nearest group.

After the Gorilla tour, you will be taken for lunch and thereafter returned to your Hotel or dropped off at the airport in Rwanda.
