2 Days Congo Gorilla Safari – Gorilla Trekking Tour in Virunga National Park Congo

The Democratic Republic of Congo is another home to Mountain Gorillas in Africa. The country has both Lowland and Mountain Gorillas. Gorilla Trekking tours in Congo are becoming popular worldwide! The country is safe and open to all International visitors. On this gorilla safari, you will go gorilla trekking in the Virunga national park of Congo. This two-day gorilla tour will start in Rwanda, where you will transfer to Virunga National park in Democratic republic of Congo via Uganda’s Chanika border. The park has five families of gorillas with three groups most tracked.

Day 1- Transfer from Kigali to Goma (Congo)

Our driver guide will pick you up from Kigali, and transfer you to Goma. This transfer journey to Kahuzi Biega National Park will take you through a scenic view Rwanda’s beautiful rolling hills passing via Ruhengeri in northern part of Rwanda through the Goma boarder in Congo. When at the border, your Congo safari guide will be required to clear at the border, presenting the requirements and thereafter, you will proceed with your journey till Congo. In Congo, you will proceed to your Lodge where you will have your dinner and drinks if you wish too.

You may also take a nature walk around your lodge as you prepare for the big day.

Day 2- Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Congo

In the morning, after taking early morning breakfast, you will travel to the Park Headquarters in Virunga National Park with the help provided by our Congo safari guide. Gorilla tours Congo start at 8am so you need to arrive at the headquarters before 8am. while at the park, you will be oriented about the Dos and Don’ts of the entire Congo gorilla trekking safari where you will go from into the forest to trek the endangered mountain gorillas. While trekking, you will be exposed to excellent birding and primates such as the Golden Monkeys, Blue Monkeys, Black and White colobus monkey, and giant forest hogs among others.

While trekking gorillas, you will interact with the gorillas for at most one hour by observing and taking their photos at the same time. So, every minute with the gorillas should be taken precious. The whole Congo gorilla tour exercise takes place in about 8hrs within the forest, depending on the group your trekking as well as where the gorillas are.

After trekking, you will return to Goma where you will access a flight back home. Gorilla trekking through the forest, hills and swamps can be tough, sometimes taking up to 8 hours in the forest.
